I just hooked it up yesterday, to replace my 50″ Samsung DLP that broke. I had a 32″ Vizio in its place for the past month, waiting for this model. Overall, I am very pleased with the set. As usual, the HD channels look spectacular and the interface is tremendously better than that of the Vizio’s. It is hooked up to a HD DVR cable box, but configuration was a breeze. The non-HD channels definitely take a huge hit, as they look pretty bad on this size screen. In reality I wish I could have just gotten a 50″ since the 2″ additional makes a big difference in the overall size, but I am still pleased with the TV and glad I waited for this model to get the improved contrast ratio and 120 refresh rate.

I bought this with a PS3 (because it’s a blu-ray player) and haven’t looked back. It was super easy to set up with HDMI and optical audio cables and I am constantly blown away by the picture. The blacks are especially dark and I had heard that this might be a problem with LCD TV’s. The in TV speakers are fine, not tinny, although I elected to disable them and run the sound through my receiver for surround sound. I really can’t fault the TV in any way. Just try and get the best price you can!

I picked this TV because it has great features and is reasonably priced. It’s near the mid-point of the BRAVIA line, and has many of the important features of the XBR series TV’s, but at a more reasonable price. The 120mhz Motion Flow technology was a big selling point.
This unit is identical to the Bravia W4100 series, except the lower portion is BLACK instead of silver.
The full specifications of this model are available on the Sony Style website under ‘business’ sales, and their LCD TV listings.
I bought it from J&R as they are one of the few retailers who carry this model… HIGHLY recommend it. And totally worth the price!

Bought to replace a smaller-screen TV in our bedroom. The larger size is much appreciated, but the quality of the picture is beyond any I’ve seen. We have had other LCD HDTV sets, but this one far exceeds the picture quality of our other sets. Easy to set up. I got a wall mount for this size set and the entire installation took just a few minutes. Highly recommended and worth the extra money.

We were unhappy with this TV and then found that Sony has fixed the back light issue so you can adjust it or turn it off and this has fixed the screen changing from dark to light with different scenes. It was easy to down load this onto a usb memory stick and the TV automatically did the update. The channels seem to change faster also. Here is the web site for downloading it from Sony – just make sure you follow all of the steps and read the info first. They will mail you the update on stick also.

First, let me say this TV excels on many levels. Picture quality is great, pre-set picture settings are almost spot on, but plenty of flexibility to adjust, decent off-angel viewing, matte screen deals well w/ bright lighting (we have a lamp directly across from the TV and only notice a reflection in truly dark scenes), and of course the long history of Sony quality standing behind it. However, unless the 120hz is a must for you, see if you can get your hands on a XBR6 on clearance. The XBR9 doesn’t add much more, and you do lose some features, like the on-screen tv guide, PAP/PIP, and the proprietary input for things like the ipod dock, etc.
Minor Issues: Sound quality is decent for a TV of this size, but audiophiles will want to add an external speaker system. The bezel is highly reflective, which can be distracting depending on the lighting in the room. Another thing to note is that the input menu has to be navigated with the arrow keys on the remote – can’t just keep hitting the input button to scroll through – so depending on your satellite or cable remote, like us (we have DirectTV), you may not be able to use it to change inputs, and will have to use the Sony remote to switch b/t the SD box and HD antenna.
Major Issue: The biggest drawback on this set, for me, is the function that automatically adjusts the backlight based on screen brightness, and, so far, we cannot find any way to shut this off. (Note, this is NOT the same as the light sensor, which you can, and I think should disable, as I think it produces kind of a muddy picture in all but optimal room light conditions.) For average viewing, this is not a problem, and we did not discover the issue until watching The Prestige on TV a few weeks ago – the movie has many dark, candle/lamp lit scenes, and the dark-bright-dark-bright adjustments made the movie almost unwatchable at times. It wouldn’t be so bad if the adjustment was smoother, but generally a couple of seconds after the screen brightness changes there is a abrupt and significant darkening or brightening of the screen. So if your main interest is gaming or watching movies that tend to have a lot of dark scenes, then this might not be the TV for you. Even though we use this TV mainly to watch TV and the occasional DVD from NetFlix, and so will probably have to deal w/ this only occasionally, it’s distracting enough when it does happen that, if we’d known about this issue in advance, we probably would not have purchased the TV.

Wow! This panel is really amazing. I have been researching sets for several months. It came down to the Sony XBR6 and the Samsung A650. Quite frankly I loved the Samsung picture but could not really accept the red “Touch of Color” bezels… just a personal choice I guess. Anyways, I purchased the Sony a few weeks ago on clearance and thought I was getting a great deal. Unfortunately the picture on the Sony was a real let down. It seemed dull and dim (even after adjusting the settings several times per different recommendations online and turning off the auto-dimming setting). My old DLP set even seemed crisper when I compared them side by side which was just not acceptable. Perhaps I got a bunk panel but after googling “dim XBR6″ it seems like several people noticed the same thing I did.
I started doing more research and noticed that Amazon started carrying this television within the last week or two. Samsung must have caught on that they were losing sales due to their red color fetish as this panel is a beautiful dark shade of gray. Anyways, the XBR was returned and this panel replaced it. It’s as clean crisp and clear as you could imagine from a non LED backlit panel. Its like night and day between this set and the Sony. The action is clear and crisp and the picture is just impressive. I highly recommend this panel, it is absolutely the clearest picture around without paying the huge premium for an LED set. You will not regret going with this TV. The only negative I would mention is that the panel is fairly reflective compared to the Sony. Definitely not an issue when the set is on but when turned off its definitely noticable.

Did a lot of research on TVs before I decided to get this one. Was not excited about the 120hz TVs; do not like the soap opera/camcorder motion. I was debating if I should get the internet options with the apps on the other models, but I have a PS3 so it wasnt worth paying for the extra features. So I got this 60hz LCD and I have no regrets! The picture this TV produces are amazing, especially on Blu Ray. I watched my New Zealand vacation videos on it and it really brings out the colors and makes my video look even more movie like. Avatar looks amazing on it as well. I got it for $640 and worth every dime.

I realize that this is probably a “guy thing” but this remote is the quickest responding remote of any flat screen I’ve seen. It also has a “favorite” button where you can easily program it to just scan your favorite channels. I got this TV for my mother and was so pleased with it, that I ordered another for myself before they change anything. I’m really happy. I’ve also bought the Western Digital TV Live device for $119 at Amazon. This allows me to view my digital pictures on my 40″ Samsung TV via the inexpensive $2.63 HDMI cable. Wow!

I have been using this TV for over a month now and everything is good about it so far.
The only thing that I would have loved in this TV was to have the Samsung Internet@TV feature, where I could directly watch You Tube videos, Netflix etc, but this TV does not have this feature, unlike some other high-end Samsung HDTVs. That was dissapointing. I wish I had spend a couple of hundered dollars more and got a model with Internet@TV feature.
But, you can still hook up this TV to your wireless router at home and stream videos and pictures from your PC/Laptop wirelessly.
Also, the sound quality is not so good. That is because the speakers are located in the rear.
I am planning to buy the Samsung Blue-Ray 5.1 channel home theatre system with the Internet@TV feature, and that would take care of everything that is lacking in this TV that I would like to have.
If you are not looking for advanced features, but a very good reliable TV with great picture quality, this is a very good buy for the money.

I’m happy with this TV, and the delivery process was smooth. The HD picture is very nice, and its off-the-air digital tuner works very well. Its handling of old AV input (VCR) is better than I expected. I’ve gotten very good results with 1080i inputs from the component video input. It’s a very attractive product.
Samsung should do better with their support for streaming movies from a PC over the Ethernet LAN port. With no ability to rewind or fastforward, and PC server software that doesn’t feel that high quality, it’s not a good solution. They should stick to just advertising it as a TV until the file streaming function really is attractive and usable.
The shortcomings of file streaming are documented in the user manual so I was not disappointed by them. Overall it’s a very good TV and it’s impressive this type of product is available for such a reasonable price.

I knew I wanted a samsung HDTV because I have heard great things from friends who know more about technology than I do. I have not been disappointed in the least with my purchase. The tv has great sound and picture quality both in dark/dim lighting as well as in a sun drenched room. The tv is in a bedroom which it is a perfect size for. It was easy set up, I did it alone. The box does say to have two people work on it but definitely possible to do alone if no one is around and you are impatient. For set up you will need a Phillips head screw driver. The only downside which has nothing to do with the tv directly was that fedex left the package on my front stoop when I was not home and it comes in a factory box with a picture of the tv on the box, just something to be cautious of if you order this product.

The LG 32LH30 32-Inch 1080p replaced a 720p 32 inch Samsung which I returned because of erratic sound quality. The LG provides a very clear picture for upscaled DVD movies and over the air digital signals. The speakers provide excellent sound for a small living room although the addition of a home theater system would substantially increase movie enjoyment. Standard definition signals also reproduce a stable clear picture. Colors are very good and the set provides sufficient tools to tweak the picture for personal preference. I have not used it for bluray as yet but HD from satellite is very good. The features of this unit described on the Amazon specifications list accurately describe its features and can be relied upon. I am not a hard core cinema/video buff but I cannot imagine that this unit will not satisfy most viewers who want a well priced midsized flat screen high definition TV. My five stars are based upon what I expect in similarly designed and priced units for a smaller room.
05/14/2010 I have just connected the LG 32LH30 to a blueray player as well as a WII with Netflex connectivity. They both work well and the LG’s bluray images are as sharp and vivid as those on my 40 inch Sony Bravia. I continue to be pleased with my purchase although I must also report the failure of the remote control (just out of warranty). LG customer support referred me to a third party vendor who sold me a replacement for about $17.00. This was my first failure of a remote since they were first introduced way back when.
